Sorry I went missing, but this weekend went nothing like I had planned! I had hoped to get the rest of the boxes unpacked, our random items packed away, areas organized (toys, movies, crafts, books, dishes), and also make a trip to the store for those things you realize you need when you move. (shower racks, extra trash cans, electric cords, light bulbs, ice cube trays, etc.)

Needless to say that was overly ambitious, and we only accomplished half at best. The shopping trip took up half of Saturday because we had to go to 4 different stores (and skip the craft shop!). By the time we got home everyone was exhausted. We only managed to sort the dishes, but not decide where they should all fit in the kitchen. Sunday, I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to bend a dresser to my will so that I could sort my craft supplies.

Tiny was a super help, as I’m sure you can imagine!

Generally fights with furniture end badly for the person, but in this case I had a hammer! I wanted this dresser to fit inside the hall closet so badly, I eventually tore the top off so I could fit it. The door frame was too narrow, and the top wouldn’t allow me to turn once I was inside, so this was my solution. It may seem a bit drastic, but it is a super old junk dresser that doesn’t match anything, and I WANTED it to fit. I did reattach the top with a few finishing nails, so it will be easy to get back out. Next time we move maybe I can just paint it to match my craft room and be done with it!

Anyhow, by the time I finished with that, and made a run to the craft shop for more supplies, I had just enough time to sort my supplies and get to bed. I didn’t even try to make a dent in the clothes situation, and we still have unopened boxes. So when I got up this morning, I pretty much had to clean up everything that we had been “cleaning up”. (How does Ant always manage to get out of this work?)

Once I had everything at least out of Tiny Tart’s reach, I started working on today’s project. (Yes, I know I am now 2 behind. Thank you.) I’m not going to tell you what I was working on though because it totally blew up in my face, and I’m going to try again at a later date. In its place I offer a recipe for the one I missed last Tasty Tuesday and hope that you don’t think I’m cheating by using food instead of crafts, I promise to make it up to you.

In any case, this works out well because you might want to use this for any upcoming Game Day celebrations you may be hosting or attending. Straight from my Gramma’s kitchen, I bring you. . .

Cocktail “Swedish” Meatballs

(Disclaimer: I don’t want to get anyone riled up over whether these are “real” Swedish meatballs or not. That is just what my family has always called them. Now that I am older, I realize that Authentic Swedes have a gravy, and mine are actually Cocktail Meatballs. Still, tradition persists, and they will always be swedish to me!)

1 lb. ground beef                                                 1/2 c. bread crumbs
1 egg                                                                     1/3 c. onion
1 T. worcestershire sauce                                   1/4 c. milk
1 T. parsley                                                          1/8 t. pepper
1 t. salt

12 oz chili sauce
10 oz grape jelly

Combine all meatball ingredients in a large bowl.
(Squishing with your hands is easiest.)
Form into balls.
Brown in a skillet over med heat, then cover and cook thuroughly.
Transfer to Crockpot.

Heat jelly and chili sauce in a saucepan, stirring, until jelly is melted.
Pour over meatballs and leave on low. (Several hours if necessary.)

One recipe will yield roughly 15 golf ball sized meatballs. If you are making them as appetizers, you can get around 25-30 by making cherry tomato sized balls. (I couldn’t think of any other size comparison, so I hope that makes sense.)

I hope to be back in top action tomorrow because I have planned 2 weeks of Valentine’s Day goodness. There will be more recipes, but since most of them involve chocolate, I’m hoping you will let me slide! Stop back and see what I have going on!
