Tasty Tuesday – Irish Soda Bread

I can’t believe it’s Tuesday again. That week really just flew by! And now it’s that time again for another great recipe. Sticking with the Irish theme for the month we have something I had never made before.

Baking this was really funny. When I pulled this out of the oven, Ant came over and just stared at it. “It looks like some kinda Medieval bread. You know like they cook in big brick ovens!” “Honey, I think the word you’re looking for is Rustic. It looks Rustic.” “Yea, that’s it.”

Anyway, it was super quick and easy to make. Just toss everything in a bowl and mix. Knead for like 2 min. and toss the whole ball in the oven. Since I’ve never had Soda Bread before I have nothing to compare this recipe to, but it tasted delicious to me. I has a very cake-like consistency and Ant says it would have been great with the Beef Stew from a few weeks ago.

Give it a try and let me know how it compares to other Soda Bread recipes you have tasted. I’d love to know if this is the “Real Deal”.

  1. It doesn't look as dark as the irish soda bread I ate in Ireland but you have a really even rise for something you only kneeded for 2 minutes yum! I love making bread.
