Piping is one of those SUPER versatile trims that always seems to make a project feel more fancy and “finished”. If you take a look around your home (and in your closet) I’m sure you’ll be able to find a few examples of it’s common uses.
You can find it on all theses…
If you are new to sewing, this can be one of those things that you drool over, but also think is too hard. But I’m here to show you how easy it can be if you just take your time. Since this is a lot of information, I broke it into 3 videos depending on what you’d like to learn; how to make piping, how to attach it to your fabric, and how to neatly finish the ends if you are working in a circle.
If you are starting with store-bought piping, you can skip right to Part 2, but if you want to see how to make your own piping anyway, go with Part 1.
And just in case you aren’t a video type of gal (or gent) I recently stumbled across a great picture tutorial for Making Piping at Honeybear Lane.
Now off you go to adorn all your fabulous projects with piping! (You know you want to ; )
(P.S. Don’t forget to link up any projects you make from these tutorials to my flicker page. Someone has to be first!)
Thanks so much for sharing this! I tried to do piping on one of my pillows and gave up because I couldn't figure it out. I am so excited now to have somewhere to come that I can learn how! I am a new follower and found you on ginger snaps.

Wow — I maybe able to do this — you certainly made it seem easy. Can't wait to try — it just adds some quality to a garment.
Thank you THANK YOU THANK YOU! I saw this a while ago, and just made my first piping project, and thanks to your tutorials, it was pretty easy. I think my project turned out great, thanks for the easy instructions!
