Feather’s Flights Pattern Tour – Playtime Pants

Playtime Pants sewing pattern by Feather's Flights

I was so flattered when Heather from Feather’s Flights asked me to be part of the pattern tour for the release of her two new toddler pants patterns. I’ve never been part of a tour before, and with all the cute outfits I’ve sewn for Aurelia lately, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to make something for Corbin for a change.

I chose to give the Playtime Pants pattern a try, and it honestly couldn’t have been an easier pattern to work with. The biggest problem I had was trying to decide what fabric to use. You’d think someone who owns enough fabric to overflow a bookcase would have something appropriate in their stash. I searched it all! And since the pattern can be made in knit or woven fabric I even dug through my refashion pile for good measure. It turns out I own a whopping two “boy” print fabrics. Two! How pathetic is that? Luckily this cute seersucker print goes along nicely with Reli’s nautical collection, so it was the clear winner.

The Playtime Pants can be made in three different lengths with optional front pockets. Since Corbin is quite the little chunker, I chose to use the knickerbocker length in a size 2T. Then I left off the cuffs, and replaced the front pockets with little bias trimmed cargo pockets.

Aren’t they cute?

And don’t forget to check out the other awesome ladies on the tour.
They’ve made some adorable options, and you’ll get to see more about the harem pants pattern!

  1. I didn't get a chance to comment on yesterday's post, so I will now! I love that boat. Very very cute. I just barely found a place where I can get my son solid colored tee's YAY! I have wanted to decorate onesies and shirts for him since before he was born. I think a little boat will definitely be part of the mix. Those shorts are very cute. I love that print–and I only have like 3 choices for boy fabric right now myself! It's hard to find cute ones. I've been enjoying your series, how fun!

    1. Aww, Thanks Lynette! I still have no idea what to actually sew for a boy, but I'll be sure to let you know if I come across any cute Boy fabric!

  2. Ooh, I didn't realize that print was seersucker; I love it! The print is so cute, perfect for a boy, and matches your daughters line so well!
Thanks so much for being apart of my tour!

    1. Thanks for having me Heather! I actually got the fabric for like $2 at Walmart, but they carry the same print in a different colorway at Joann's in the Tutti Frutti line. It's a completely random find!

  3. Are those REAL starfish?!?!?! WOW! I seriously need to come visit, we wouldn't get anything that exotic at beaches round here!

Also, I love the shorts, Corbin looks very comfy 🙂 xx

    1. Sorry Hun, but they're fake. 😀
We were at the zoo, and they have this little decorated cove around the seal and sea lion tanks. We do have an amazing aquarium nearby, but there definitely isn't anything more exciting than a horseshoe crab at our local beaches!

    1. Are you trying to match a specific shirt, or just having a tough time finding something cute? I feel like everything I see for Corbin is so boring, but I never know what to make him that would be better.

    2. I have to match a specific shirt… That's the hard problem 🙁 I want white shorts with black anchors but I'm not finding any and have only found one white pair on eBay

    3. Oh man, that's a tough one. I haven't even seen any fabric recently that would work. If you found plain white do you think you could embroider an anchor on? Or maybe stamp them with fabric paint?

    4. I've thought about the fabric paint and I'm afraid to screw it up! I've been hunting and hoping to run into the perfect fabric. I wouldn't mind white with yellow anchors either
