Hey all! You know you’ve been gone too long when you start getting the “Is everything Ok?” e-mails, so I thought I should drop in and give everyone an update. I’ve actually been meaning to write this post for weeks now, but for one reason or another I just couldn’t make myself sit down and do it. No two ways about it, I’ve been pretty lazy lately. Not the entire time I’ve been gone mind you – Not for an entire month! (though I totally feel like I could pull that off) But any ‘free time’ where I could be accomplishing something, I just haven’t wanted to. I also haven’t answered many e-mails, or read a single blog post since September, so please bear with me if you’ve been patiently waiting for a response from me. It’s daunting, but I’ll catch up eventually.
I know I haven’t exactly been posting up a storm the past few months either, so lets rewind a second and fill in the gaps. If you’ve been following along on Instagram (My new favorite hang-out!), you may have already been treated to the delightful experience that has been my past few months, but lets do it again just for fun!
Before I knew it, I’d mailed out 10 ponies, 18 Spikes, 4 custom orders (including a baby Sweetie Belle, and a Smaug dragon. So cute!), and a random assortment of ears, wings, and tails. I lost a w-h-o-l-e lot of sleep, gained a bit of stress weight, and can’t really account for most of the months of September and October. Is there a word that means ‘busy in the extreme’? Cuz that would be me. Big time.
(Now taking applications for an assistant for next Halloween 😉
And lest you start to think I’m a complete moron for accepting too many orders (which I am), I must explain that our washing machine, dryer, furnace, and dishwasher have all gone on the fritz sometime over the past two months….and we just replaced the AC unit in August. If I have a choice between working my tush off to buy a new washer (without adding to our already crazy debt), or lugging the kids to a laundromat each week, I’m gonna choose the new washer. Every time. Hooray for home-ownwership! -_-
Somewhere in there, Aurelia also turned 5. Yay for her! And since she kinda got shafted last year due to etsy shop craziness I couldn’t let her down again. She’s been begging for an Alice in Wonderland tea party all. year. long. Which is why it seemed perfectly acceptable to stay up all night making homemade macaroons, cookies, tarts, cream puffs, and petite fours. Seriously, the things we do for our kids. Jeesh!
I blame the sleep deprivation for most of my stupidity, although thankfully I still had the presence of mind to tell Ant what he could do with himself when he asked “You’re still gonna sew her an Alice dress to wear to her party right?” Are you freakin’ kidding me?!? Lets just say, a dress was promptly ordered that same day, Aurelia didn’t care one little bit that I hadn’t sewn it, and Anthony didn’t lose any important appendages….this time.
Meanwhile, Corbin has been running around like a crazy person singing “Everything is Awesome! Everything is Awesome!” from the Lego Movie; a show that incidentally caused Aurelia to bawl hysterically for and hour…for absolutely no reason.
Long story even longer – I’ve decided to take the rest of the year off from blogging. With my sewing machine out of commission I won’t be getting much done for a while anyway, so I’m going to switch gears and start doing a little re-decorating around the house. I’ve already started planning, and would really like to have my sewing room ready to go by New Years. Then I’ll start working on both of the kids rooms and move on from there. The previous owner’s ‘handy man’ was probably the most half-assed worker I’ve ever come across, (Why does it look like all the trim was painted with a garden hose?!) so we’ve got a LOT of work ahead of us, but maybe by the time our 1st year is over (in Feb.) it’ll actually start looking like our house for a change. Here’s hoping at least!
Until I finally get around to blogging regularly again, be sure to come follow along on Instagram if you’d
like to keep up with all our dorky FUN adventures. They’re sure to be quite entertaining!
Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Holidays!
Love you guys!
If anyone ever earned a break, you are that person. I can't believe how much you've gotten done in the past few months! You're my hero. Now sit down on the couch with a jumbo bag of leftover Halloween candy and don't even THINK about moving for at least 72 hours.
Good for you!! 😀 I used your tutorial to make my daughter's pony costume this year. It took me a month to make ONE. A month, with 2 breakdowns in it 😉 I can't imagine making that many so quickly and so well. Go get some well deserved rest and enjoy this holiday season with your family.
PS: If you need an assistant for next year, I can whip out ears, pants, and tails in no time flat! 🙂
I just stumbled over your blog and immediately fell in love! I am following you now even though you are taking a break. 😉 If you are interested in felt food & toys or wooden toys, please stop by at my site one day in the future. Until then I hope you come back relaxed and motivated. Looking forward to read more of you. All the best to you and your family. Greetings from Toronto, Jana

tidying bookmarks.. and just read what you've been through.. stay strong girl. You and your whirling dervish. Love your spirit and creativity, we all get a little sad (a lot sad) sometimes. Eat plenty of greens and look forward to being a grandnma one day. xx
Thanks darlin! Now that all the medical shenanigans are over, hopefully everything else will be smooth sailing this year. 😉
